Steps Involved in the Production of UKP
UKP is a type of chemical pulp. Wood is formed by fiber that is tightly connected. What serves as an adhesive to connect wood fibers is a substance called lignin. Chemical pulp is obtained by dissolving lignin with chemicals, namely sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfide, and heat, allowing only wood fibers to be taken out. Chips are boiled with the chemicals in a pressured vessel, called a continuous digester, and gradually turn into pulp.
